“They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re altogether ooky, the Addams Family”

This year, the Addams Family came to Collingswood High School for the spring musical! Under the direction of Mrs. Counsellor and Ms. Midili, the dearly loved Addams Family came alive onstage, only with a twist: Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen in love. The only problem is that she’s fallen for a boy from a “normal” family, and the Addams’ are anything but normal. Wednesday invites her love, Lucas, to dinner at her house, in the hopes that their families can bond before the two announce their engagement. Unfortunately, all does not go according to plan, and what should have been an uneventful dinner quickly landslides into a disaster. The Addams family (with characters played by Nate Draper, Morgan Justus, Emily Rivell, Colin Rivell, Kelsie Randolph, Declan Hastings, and Paul Maienza) must learn to get along with the Beineke family (played by Nate Addye, Kate Schell, and Christian Randazzo) in order to save the night from doom.

This year, I had the privilege of getting to be one of the leads in the musical. Every moment of the experience was amazing for me, and I truly enjoyed getting to further my acting ability onstage with this show. I was always excited to go to rehearsals, because they were fun and enjoyable, and they were something I would look forward to all day. As the shows neared, it was exhilarating to see something that everyone worked so hard on for months come together in a matter of days. Once lights, costumes, and set were added to the performance, the performance became real. Getting to perform in front of an audience is magical, and adrenaline was racing on opening night! Both weekends of the show turned out amazing, due to the effort and motivation of every single person in the cast. Throughout the run of the show, the cast became like family, and I know I speak for everyone when I say that the entire experience was amazing and worth all of the hard work.
